SO MUCH!!! Part 1

There has been a lot of activity around here the last few weeks! Beach Vacation, Track, Lost Teeth, Crawling and such, Family Visits and a Baptism! You'd think I would write about these things as they happen. In a perfect world, my friends. Alas this world - especially mine - is imperfect and as a result I'm writing all of this at once. Therefore it will be broken up into Early June and Late June. Don't say I never did nothin' for ya!

Early June

Track

Gwynnie had a blast at track! 4 weeks of running in the blazing hot sun, what's not to love?? Our June felt more like August, so track was particularly hard this year. But Gwyneth learned that she's pretty good at the long jump. She could have qualified for the competitive team on the long jump... had we made it to the day of track where they had the qualifying trials... oops. Still in all, she enjoyed it very much. On her final day she learned how to do the high jump. With any luck those legs of her's will carry her right into college. There's always hope! There are 4 Saturdays where the kids compete - totally for fun, but they give out ribbons. Gywnnie did the long jump with the 2nd and 3rd graders since we were late, but no one noticed since she's so tall. Then she ran in the 100m dash and even though she was at the back at the start of her group's race, she came trotting back happily with a 2nd place ribbon. I guess the kid's a finisher! Then she finished off the day with the half mile. She finished the race with a "participant" ribbon. We were super proud of her for that. It was HOT!

She's now thinking about how awesome it would be to run in races with me. We'll have to whip her into shape. Later that evening I ran in the Summer Solstice 8K. In the mountains. It was 95 degrees. I finished. It was hot. I loved every minute of it.

The Beach
Lindsay, Fashion, Loren and I finally got to the beach! There were huge storms on our way out, but after a brief delay (and lots of beer) we managed to get on the plan and land safely in southwestern Florida. We spent 4 days in Bonita Beach. We saw more lizards than I could count, turtles, one frog and a few dolphins. Where we stayed was pretty quiet and not very touristy, which was perfect! We went for a 5 mile walk every morning (you can kinda see Loren's baby belly!)and played in the sun all day and hung out with each other in the evenings. It was very relaxing and lots of fun. I want to go back. Of course the trip home was delayed about 8 hours. We had a LONG delay (and lots of beer) just getting on the plane. Then we got up in the air and had to land in Orlando due to some sort of plane trouble and had another LONG (no beer - airport was closed) delay there.

We got home at 1am!

Kite Flying
After I got home we stayed busy by doing things like flying kites. I took a few pictures for fun. Mallory was the holder and Gwyneth was the runner. The kites didn't last very long.
